04/2011 IGE WINS DESIGN AWARD FOR BEST CUSTOM EXHIBIT AT MOD 2011

IGE Global and its client Mobily was awarded “Best Custom Exhibit” at the 2011 MOD Awards, presented by Exhibit City News on March 29, 2011.

The MOD Awards honors the best portable modular designs of the past year for trade shows, events, indoor, outdoor, retail and museums. IGE Group was recognized as the winner in the larger than 20’X20’ category for the Mobily exhibit at Gitex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Gino Pellegrini, president of IGE Global, was also selected to speak at the awards as one of the three esteemed judges of the other remaining eight categories. Gino shared with the audience his impression of each design and recommendations for further improvements before the audience went to a vote to select the winner.

“The MOD Awards are an opportunity for our industry to appreciate the creativity and innovation designers take in working with systems,” said Gino Pellegrini. “We may need to stay closer to budget and ship lighter each year, but creativity doesn’t have to suffer. The entries we saw at this year’s program demonstrates the inspiration within the industry. We were honored to be recognized with our peers for this award.”

About Mobily at Gitex 2011
Mobily hoped to reach all of each varying of target audiences with its many product lines all in one exhibit space. And, while each target audience had great demographic differences, Mobily not only wanted them to have a memorable experience but retain the umbrella name as well as the products.

When the design process initiated, it began from the ceiling and the floor and then filled the in between. To create a consistent approach among so many sub-brands within the Mobily exhibit, it was important to make the various areas flow one to the other. A dark wenge wood floor was used with a mirror board that served as a strong and elegant visual anchor. The ceiling that is one of the exhibit’s most dramatic features, anchored the entire 15,000 sq. ft. showplace. It was a set of dramatic curved beams. The ceiling represented moving information and created the highly technical feel that this telecom company wanted.

The gray walls, simple floor and ceiling composed the bones of the structure. Using custom modular panels and backwalls allowed the massive exhibit to be built quickly. From there, the designers customized various product focus areas with laminates, metals and bent edges. While each of these areas within the exhibit had their own design features, they also adhered to the overall design aesthetic.
